Outlook Signals Stronger International Momentum

Halliburton's Q3 performance highlighted diverging regional trends. Its management expects production restoration, inventory rebuilding, and energy security investments to drive multi-year oilfield services demand. Its 2027 outlook assumes a flat North American market, suggesting that international growth and improved execution are expected to support the next phase of expansion.
The quarter also brought several strategic contract awards. Halliburton secured integrated well construction and completions work for Eni's Cronos development offshore Cyprus and an integrated contract with bp for appraisal drilling offshore Brazil. It also signed a multiyear agreement with Pampa Energía to support digital transformation in Argentina's Vaca Muerta shale play. These awards strengthen its international portfolio and integrated service capabilities.
Segment Performance Diverged
Completion & Production revenue declined 3.5% sequentially in Q3, while operating income fell 4%. Lower stimulation activity in the Western Hemisphere drove the decline, partly offset by stronger activity across multiple product service lines in the Middle East. Its operating margin remained flat at 14.8%.
Drilling & Evaluation revenue increased 4%, while operating income rose 16%. Improved activity in the Middle East and Latin America, alongside stronger drilling-related services in the Western Hemisphere, supported the gains. Its operating margin increased from 13.5% to 15.0%, making it the stronger segment this quarter.
Strong Cash Flow and Shareholder Returns
Halliburton maintained its focus on cash generation and shareholder returns through 9M 2026. Lower capital spending helped sustain free cash flow, while the company continued to return capital through dividends and share repurchases. Its balance sheet remains supported by a substantial cash position, alongside long-term debt.
Halliburton repurchased ~$558 million of shares and paid $426 million in dividends during the period, reinforcing its commitment to shareholder returns while investing in its international business.
