Builders Need an Ecosystem

Every deployed megawatt requires engineering expertise, modular infrastructure, deployment capabilities, turbines, natural gas engines, controls, logistics, maintenance, and long-term operational support. Recent developments, including SLB's strategic alliance with Liberty Energy, illustrate that global oilfield service companies are increasingly positioning themselves within this broader ecosystem rather than focusing solely on power generation assets.

Those ambitions cannot become operating assets on their own. Every deployed megawatt requires deployment specialists, engineering expertise, turbines, natural gas engines, controls, logistics, and long-term operations. As Primary Vision expanded its Builder Database, it became clear that the companies enabling those projects required their own framework. The result is an OFS Power Ecosystem.
Commercial Activity Is Expanding Across Value Chain
The database currently identifies approximately 9.7 GW of verified ecosystem project exposure. Importantly, this reflects commercial participation, not long-term aspirations.

While deployment currently represents the largest layer of disclosed project exposure, engineering and equipment providers are rapidly expanding their participation. Baker Hughes remains the leading turbine and power systems provider, while Halliburton continues to strengthen its engineering and deployment capabilities. The recent SLB–Liberty Energy alliance further expands the engineering layer through modular infrastructure designed specifically for AI data centers.
Engineering and equipment suppliers are also becoming increasingly important. Baker Hughes alone accounts for approximately 1.73 GW of contracted turbine and power-system exposure, while Caterpillar and Cummins support the ecosystem through natural gas engine platforms. Rather than following the builders, the supporting ecosystem is expanding alongside them.
A Connected OFS Power Ecosystem Is Emerging

The completed database shows that AI power is no longer a single-company opportunity. Instead, a connected ecosystem is emerging in which each participant contributes a different capability.
Power builders create generation platforms. Pressure pumpers provide the industry's mechanical resource base. Deployment specialists mobilize projects. Engineering companies integrate complete power systems, while equipment manufacturers supply the turbines and engines required to deliver electricity at scale.
Together, these layers explain why AI infrastructure investment is creating opportunities well beyond the companies directly building generation assets.
